TPC Harding Park Championship Recap
Sunday, March 24, 2019

San Francisco, CA – The Golf Channel Am Tour’s Bay Area section paid a visit to the famed TPC Harding Park on Sunday, which is set to host the PGA Championship in 2020 and the Presidents Cup in 2025. It was a beautiful, calm San Francisco day, which resulted in some pretty low scores out at the championship track. It was nice to avoid the rain for a change and it looked like the grounds crew was even able to cut the rough before the 100+ player field teed it up on Sunday morning. Here were your top finishers from perhaps the best day we’ve had all season thus far:

Ben Soicher, out of Mill Valley, was your tournament medalist and winner in the Championship flight on Sunday. Soicher fired (+1) 73 to win it by two shots over Bo Lizarraga and Sam Petke (75s) to record his fourth victory of the season. Young Soicher continues to play great and with the W he extended his lead in the Championship flight race to Nationals (Bay Area & Nationally).

The Palmer flight was won by San Jose player Justin Alonzo II on Sunday, as he posted (+6) 78 to win it by two shots over runner-up finisher Michael Roye (80). Alonzo II is off to a great start this season, with Sunday marking his second win on the year. He is now just 45 points behind the Palmer flight Race to Nationals lead after racking up 175 points on Sunday.

A tightly contested Senior Palmer flight was won by Michael Schwartz on Sunday. Schwartz, out of Citrus Heights, had a steady round of (+5) 77 to win the flight by a single stroke over Yoji Endo and Richard Brown (78s). After winning The Reserve Classic back in January, Schwartz had struggled in his last two tournaments, but he returned to his winning ways and piled up 145 points on Sunday which now has him in third place in the Senior Palmer flight standings.

Issac Harris, out of Fairfield, was your champion in the Hogan flight on Sunday. Harris fired an outstanding round of (+4) 76 to win the flight by one shot over Joshua Steinfeldt (77) for his first victory in just his fourth event on Tour. Harris is off to a great start to his Am Tour career and he is steadily moving up the ranks in the Sacramento Tour’s Hogan flight Race to Nationals standings. He crept into the top 10 after earning 175 points on Sunday.

Gary Addison, also out of Fairfield, was your champion in the Senior Hogan flight on Sunday. Addison posted (+7) 79 to win the flight by three shots over Gerald Yago and Denniz Kunz (82s). Sunday’s W meant two in a row for Addison and he now sits in second place in the Sacramento Tour’s Senior Hogan flight standings, just 110 points behind leader Gary Kodani.

Another event and another John Moyle victory in the Sarazen flight on Sunday. Moyle, out of Oakdale, fired a tremendous round of (+8) 80 to win the flight by a whopping seven shots over nearest finisher Tom Hunter (87) for his ninth victory of the season already. Moyle is having an incredible year and the 175 points on Sunday pushed him over the 2,000 point mark and we haven’t even hit April yet. Needless to say, Moyle is leading his flight in the points race and he is leading the whole country in points, too.

The Senior Sarazen flight was won by Utah player John Pappas on Sunday. Pappas posted a solid round of (+11) 83 to win the flight by four shots over Larnold Jones (87). Sunday was the first W of the season for Pappas, who plays on the Las Vegas tour.  The 105 points earned on Sunday moved Pappas up to fourth place in the Senior Sarazen flight standings on the LV Tour.

Anthony Pokriots, out of Windsor, was your champion in the Jones flight on Sunday. Pokriots posted a stellar round of (+13) 85 to win the flight by one over Win Maung (86) for his first victory of the season. The big 135 points earned on Sunday moved Pokriots into eighth place in the Jones flight standings heading into a busy month of April.

The Snead flight was won by Milpitas resident Michael Wu on Sunday. Wu posted (+30) 102 to win the flight by six shots over Virginia Finnerty-Brooks and Richard Brautigam (108s) for his second victory on the season. The 75 points earned on Sunday extended Wu’s lead in the Snead flight Race to Nationals heading into the Bay Area Tour’s next event at Baylands Golf Links on Sunday, April 7th.
